Janice Moon

I was born and raised in southern Oregon, where the grass is greener and the mountains are always calling. I spent most of my childhood outdoors; playing in abandoned fields, roaming the streets with my four brothers, and learning all the things any scrappy 80s kid had to master to survive in style.

Growing up, if you wanted spending money for the corner market, you had to earn it. Times were hard, and everybody in our family had to pull their weight. As kids, it was lemonade stands, raking leaves, or even paper routes. My first art gig came along in the fourth grade when my teacher, Mrs Meunier, asked me to paint her windows over the summer break. She provided all the supplies, tempera paints and brushes, and set me loose! She paid me for my job well done, and I was absolutely elated. (I hadn’t known then how much those windows would direct my passion of art ahead in my years to come).

I can’t remember what I spent the money on, or the details of what I painted, but I will never forget how rewarding it was to be paid to do something I loved. I continued to paint windows and eventually was painting murals for family friends in high school. The murals then led to custom furniture, window paintings, LOTS of window paintings, custom pottery and I even found myself teaching kids classes at the local paint-your-own pottery store.

Over the years I’ve continued to make a career out of doing some crazy art projects. Everything from installing a massive 3D Wisteria tree for a client for a beautiful water home-birth, to a selection of murals dotted across our valley. I am continually being challenged as an artist to try something new.

While my artwork keeps me busy, the work that I am more recognized for and keeps me even busier is my hair and makeup artistry!

In my early twenties, I found a passion for a whole different area of creativity in the styling industry. Just as my first window painting gave me a joy I continued to wander after, I found out how much I love helping men and women feel their best before a big event. Whether I am doing makeup or hairstyling for a wedding, hustling behind the scenes on a commercial set, or teetering on a ladder for my latest mural, I seem to always find myself with brushes in hand.

Art is in my veins and it is incredibly rewarding and exciting to get to share that passion with other artists and art enthusiasts alike!

Thank you for reading a little about my life and REACH OUT if you want to collaborate on some ART.
